Meyer Memorial Trust

Meyer Memorial Trust is a private foundation whose mission is to “invest in people, ideas and efforts that deliver significant social benefit to Oregon and southwest Washington.”  Since it began operating in 1982, the Trust has awarded more than $410 million in grants and Program Related Investments (PRIs) to support arts and culture, education, health, social welfare, community development, and environmental conservation and restoration.

FSG has helped MMT:
  • Complete its first ever strategic plan
  • Develop a portfolio approach to its activities, enabling the foundation to articulate and establish goals to serve the community in multiple ways including:
    • Strategic Action Initiatives
    • Capacity Building
    • Grass Roots (small grants) Grantmaking
    • General Purpose Responsiveness
  • Within its Strategic Action Initiatives, design three new initiatives where MMT will work proactively through both grantmaking and non grantmaking activities to bring about systemic change:
    • Closing the Achievement Gap and Lifting Student Achievement in K-12 Public Education
    • Access to Affordable Housing
    • Willamette River Basin Restoration
  • Strategically integrate MMT’s Program Related Investment (PRI) activity with its strategic program activity
  • Develop an evaluation design for the foundation to monitor on-going progress against the strategic plan
