Rwanda Community Works

Rwanda Community Works (RCW) is a new nonprofit organization located in the Bugesera district of Rwanda, the epicenter of the 1994 Rwandan genocide and one of Rwanda’s poorest districts.  RCW’s previous experiences led them to envision a new development model – prosperity creation as a solution to poverty rather than more traditional poverty alleviation approaches.  Uniquely combining for-profit and not-for-profit investment capital, RCW will launch, finance and support local businesses to create a new Bugesera rural enterprise zone.

FSG has helped RCW to:

• Develop their initial strategy expanding on the founder’s initial vision, including values,  impact goals, investment criteria, investment opportunities and measurement approaches

• Build detailed investment monographs defining initial for-profit and not-for-profit investment opportunities in the agriculture, tourism and handicrafts sectors
• Create an operational plan to support the launch of RCW including initial staffing plan, budgets, fundraising requirements, and board governance
