Gregory J. Hills


Managing Director

Greg has 15 years of experience advising corporations, foundations, governments and non-profits on strategy, program design, performance measurement, and operational improvement. In his five years at FSG, he has led a range of social sector projects with a focus on CSR, global development, global health, education, and social investment. 

Greg leads FSG’s Global Development practice area, which includes work on microfinance, sustainable agriculture, and SME development.  He has also led a number of FSG’s CSR and corporate philanthropy engagements advising Citigroup, Eli Lilly, Ernst & Young, GE, Merck, Microsoft, and Pfizer. Recent client engagements include supporting the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s global microfinance strategy, crafting a U.S. education strategy for Citigroup, and advising a multinational chocolate manufacturer on a West Africa cocoa sustainability strategy.  His work often includes in-country research with recent field visits to Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Turkey, Uganda, and South Africa. 

Greg is the lead author of several white papers on CSR strategy and effectiveness: “Best in Class: How Top Corporations Can Help Transform Public Education,“Volunteering for Impact: Best Practices in International Corporate Volunteering,” and “SEED Funds: A Powerful New Approach to Corporate Social Investment.”

Prior to joining FSG, Greg worked as a manager with Archstone Consulting and as a senior consultant with Deloitte Consulting advising corporations on strategy and profit improvement initiatives. His prior social sector experience includes serving as the Manager of Program Operations for the US-Asia Environmental Partnership, a $20mm/year USAID-funded public-private partnership promoting cooperation among NGOs, business, and government in support of sustainable development and environmental improvement throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

Greg holds an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and a B.A., cum laude, with honors in Government from Hamilton College.
